A damper plate is an item that is never seen from your room, yet is so very important to the proper operation of your fireplace. The damper controls the air flow through the fire and up the chimney, so it has a large effect on how the fire burns. If you have no fireplace doors, shutting the damper when the no fire is present keeps the room heat from escaping up the chimney. If your damper plate is rusty or warped, you may need to replace it in order to ensure proper burning. This plate can be operated by either poker or rotary-style controls. The dimensions of the plate are 7" D x 22 1/2" W.
