I am confused as to why the 42" damper plate has dimensions of only 34 1/2" wide by 7"deep. If my opening is 42" wide, which damper plate should I order since the dimensions here would make it too small for my opening.

This damper plate is designed to be used with the Vestal 42" Cast Iron Throat-Style Fireplace Damper which has a throat opening of 42" front; 35" back; 10" depth; 6" height.

This damper includes all components to complete installation.
