How do you secure the control angle bolt to the damper frame if the other side of the damper frame is not accessible for a nut? The control angle bolt in my installation needs to be installed from the inside of the fireplace and there is nothing for the bolt to 'bite' on; the hole in the iron frame is not threaded.

Answer:

On Vestal damper throats, this mounting hole is threaded. As such, the damper catch is not designed to need a nut to secure the bolt. Because the mounting hole is not threaded in your case, I would recommend using an appropriately sized tap to thread the hole prior to attempting to install the catch.
