Is this stovepipe suitable for inside a double-walled air-cooled chimney?
By Kevin on January 16, 2013

Answer:
This particular item is simply a thimble designed to pass stove pipe from an appliance into a masonry chimney system. It is not to be used as vent pipe. Additionally, it is not recommended to use this item to transition from single wall stove pipe to factory chimney pipe. Proper adapters and connectors should be used to accomplish this transition.

My chimney has a standard 6 x 6 thimble installed which is way to tight for 22 gauge stove pipe. It appears to need a 6 1/16" or 6 1/8" diameter to slide the pipe into the thimble. Are there special thimbles for 22 gauge pipe, or is a custom thimble needed? Or is there perhaps another option I have yet to consider to make the connection?
By Emily on October 30, 2013

Answer:
All our thimbles are made to fit onto double walled pipe. If you try to pass a single walled thimble through a combustible wall, it will cause the wall to catch fire. You will need to to have a special double walled thimble for this application.

Hadn't been able to find this item anywhere locally. This thimble fit well with the rest of the components I bought and helped me finish a longstanding item on my to-do list
