Ask & Answer
If your venting setup makes use of DuraTech chimney pipes with a 10 inch inner diameter and you plan on using a zero clearance or masonry fireplace, you should first look into a DuraTech Chimney Pipe Anchor Plate. This component is specifically designed to make the connection between your pipes and your fireplace simple.

The anchor plate is constructed of galvanized steel for maximum durability and strength. It carries a limited lifetime warranty because of the strength of that construction, making it a smart investment in addition to being a great component. Specifically, though, the DuraTech Chimney Pipe Anchor Plate creates a perfect union between DuraTech 10 inch inner diameter chimney pipes and masonry or zero-clearance fireplaces, which is why so many homeowners rely on it in their venting installations.

Features
  • Adapts DuraTech chimney pipes for use with zero-clearance and masonry fireplaces
  • For use with chimney pipes with a 10" inner diameter
  • Limited lifetime warranty

How thick is the square flange material? Will a 12" OD insulated 10" ID pipe slip into this? Also, can this be welded or attached to the top of a 1/4" steel firebox?
By Collin on July 31, 2013

Answer:
The square flange material is fairly thin and is no more than 20 gauge in thickness. As such, it would be difficult to MIG weld, even on a low heat setting. I recommend bolting it and using furnace cement to seal it.

This anchor plate can accept the 10" ID/ 12" OD Duratech pipe. The metal lances are different from brand to brand. As such, it may not allow others to lock properly, even if the diameters are the same.
