Ambient RCBE on/off remote control for gas logs
December 15, 2012
With a previous unit, purchased many years ago, the receiver box required 4-AA batteries. For some reason the batteries would corrode and eventually ruined the battery receiver box. I was pleased to find an excellent replacement at this store, plus the price was fair and it arrived quickly.
Pros:
The new receiver box is powered by AC electricitiy, which elminates the battery problem previoiusly mentioned.
Cons:
I've found nothing to dislike about it.

Thankfully, one of these units will solve the problem of almost burning yourself every time that you want a fire.

Prefer the Plugged in Unit

I have no idea how easy it is to get this installed in your fireplace, but I can tell you that it is very easy to get replacement parts working if one is already hooked up. We actually have an electrical outlet built into our fireplace, so we were able to plug in the new receiver after the older battery powered unit malfunctioned. I don't know whether I can recommend a battery powered receiver (although it looks like this one might have been originally intended to be battery powered), because it tends to have problems with the batteries bursting when left in the unit for too long. That being said, if you can change the batteries out regularly it should be fine.
