Meets My Specifications
May 14, 2014
When I bought this tent, I was looking for some fairly specific characteristics -- good ventilation, easy set up, a bathtub bottom, and sufficient room for a family. Overall, this tent has met all of those needs. A major portion of the tent sides is mesh which helps to keep us cool in warm weather. Assembly is pretty simple, but the tent is quite high which makes it impossible for me to put on the rain fly alone and makes attaching the top center of the tent to the pole rather challenging. The interior is roomy enough for five, and the ceiling is comfortably high. Our tent package was short a few lines for staking out the rain fly. I'm not sure if that was intentional or an oversight. There was also a small area of mesh that was worn. The zipper that goes around the front door does not track well and tends to catch on the rain flap. In my opinion, this is a good tent for the money I paid for it. I don't think it will last as long as some other tents I have had, but I do think it will serve us well for some time in the future.

Lots of Problems
October 21, 2012
Impressed with reputation of Eureka tents, I purchased several of the Tetragon 9 tents but was very disappointed. We have struggled with failed zippers, split tent poles, and ripped corners. I have ordered numbers of replacement tent poles. We also had to replace several of the rain flies due to what Eureka called UV damage. This was a bit confusing since we had always camped under trees. The tents are easy to set up and have spacious interiors. The bottom of the tent is cloth, so we made sure to waterproof it and use a tarp footprint underneath it. With these additions, we have always stayed dry inside. The tents have performed well in high winds and are quite sturdy. Despite these strong points, the issues we have had mean that I am gradually having to dispose of all the tents I purchased. None of the zippers work anymore, and nearly all of the corners are ripped or worn.

So Far So Good
May 28, 2011
I chose this tent based on the reputation of Eureka products. While I have not yet used it for camping, a dry run in my backyard looked promising. It was simple to set up and tear down, and there was plenty of space and interior height. I look forward to seeing how it does when I actually use it for camping.

My Favorite Tent
May 20, 2011
Out of all the tents I have owned, this one is my favorite. It is an exceptional product for the price. This is actually my second Tetragon 9 since I lost my first one in a fire. I use it for regular camping with scouts about eight to ten weekends each year. (For backpacking, I use a Eureka Spitfire 2.) It has good airflow for hot summer weather and is sturdy enough to withstand storms. I encountered one storm that nearly blew the tent flat, but it stayed up, and I stayed dry inside. It is so simple to put up that I am able to complete the job in less than ten minutes. Tear down is also easy, and the tent fits into its case without difficulty. As with any tent, divide the recommend occupancy number by two to discover the real number that will fit comfortably inside.

Had to Return It
April 15, 2011
I was forced to return this tent after only two uses. The first time I used it, a hot rock burned a hole through the bottom of the tent. This issue was easily fixed by patching it. On the second use, one of the tent poles broke before the tent was even erected. Also, the mesh tore along the seam of the tent. Eureka would only repair the tent if I paid both directions of shipping. This tent is not nearly as durable as my last Eureka tent, which lasted almost 20 years.

Easily Broken Tent Poles
January 2, 2011
The quality of this tent does not compare well to other Eureka tents that I have owned. Windy conditions splintered or broke all of the tent poles the first time we used it. The location of the door is awkward, especially when the rain fly is in place. Airflow through the tent was also poor which made warm weather quite uncomfortable. Using the gear loft severely limits the ceiling height inside the tent. The tent did stay completely dry inside, although that characteristic is typical of Eureka tents. I appreciated the feature of a doormat, but I did not like having to stake it down as it created a tripping hazard. The tent stakes are fairly good quality, but it is always a good idea to keep extras on hand. At the price, this tent is a fairly good choice, as long as you don't have to immediately replace the poles.

Warranty Not Worry-Free
December 31, 2010
The support poles for the tent cracked after moderate use. I was advised that I can ship the poles to be inspected to determine if the damage is a defect or the result of abuse. My other choice is to pay $25 for new poles plus a ten dollar shipping charge. This is not the response I expected from a worry-free warranty.

Nearly Watertight
May 31, 2010
I have used this tent for four different trips with my wife and three children, and I am very impressed with its quality. Even in rain, the tent kept everything almost completely dry. I sprayed the top and sides of the tent with waterproofing spray, but some water pooled between the tent and the footprint and dampened some of our gear. If I had waterproofed the bottom, I would have been fine. But considering the amount of rain, the tent performed quite well. It is also a good idea to zip up the windows when the wind begins blowing the rain horizontally. The tent is very spacious and has a reasonable weight. It is not overly heavy, but it is definitely not a backpacking tent. With careful use, I think it will last for quite a long time.

Problems with the Zipper
April 13, 2010
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this tent due to a faulty zipper. When we initially had problems with the zipper, the rest of the tent was still in good shape so Eureka recommended replacing the zipper pull. This solution worked for only a few trips. When it failed again, we had to safety pin a blanket over the doorway. Fortunately, it worked pretty well, but it was obviously not a long term solution. I would not recommend this tent or any other one with a similar zipper.

Handy Overhead Storage
October 30, 2009
We are all very happy with this tent. It is very easy to setup. We also really like the overhead compartment, since it allows us to store valuables out of the way of being stepped on or damaged.

A Tent for People Who Don't Like Tents
July 29, 2009
I have not had good experiences with tents, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I was able to put it up in about five minutes by applying a few tricks I learned from a YouTube video. I did find putting the rain fly on to be a little challenging though. When it is placed properly, it juts out from the tent and allows airflow into the tent. This is much better than some tents where the rain fly cuts off all ventilation. The interior of the tent is large enough for a seven-foot cot, a large ice chest, and a space to walk between. Its height allowed me to easily change clothes inside the tent. In my opinion, two adults and their gear would be the most I would want to put inside. Everything stayed dry despite a light rain during the night. I was able to tear it down quickly, and it easily went back into its case. I would highly recommend this tent, especially to those who have become frustrated with other tents.

Easy Setup
January 29, 2009
I bought this tent to use for Cub Scout camping with my seven year-old and have been very pleased. Set up takes one person less than thirty minutes, and tear down is also fast. I would suggest using a tarp under the tent to protect it from dirt and moisture. The interior is fairly spacious and comfortably fits our king size air mattress. In my judgment, there is enough space for two or three people to fit comfortably, but four people would be a bit snug.
