Ask & Answer
A millivolt valve is a safety feature for your gas fireplace. It will keep your pilot lit and your gas flowing when you want it to. Also, it is designed to shut off the gas if the pilot goes out to prevent gas spilling into your fireplace. This millivolt valve can be used with either your natural gas or propane fueled fireplace and is rated for temperatures of up to 225 degrees Fahrenheit. It also has a front and rear inlet.

How do we light the pilot?
By Collin on February 25, 2013

Answer:
In order to light the pilot, the gas valve control knob must be rotated to the "pilot" position, then depressed. If the appliance has a built in spark ignitor, begin pressing the ignitor button until the pilot flame lights.

If the appliance does not have a spark ignitor, the pilot must be lit by holding the lit end of a long match or lighter near the pilot outlet. Once the flame appears, continue holding the valve control for an additional 30 seconds. You can then release the control and the pilot should remain lit. The valve control can then be rotated to the "On" position to activate the main burner.
