Picking the correct Gas Logs for you and your fireplace can be very complex. We have made the process easier by putting together a step by step process that will ensure that you pick the perfect set of gas fireplace logs for you!
The first decision that you need to make is if you want Vented or Ventless gas logs. If you are ready to proceed, please choose one of the sections below.
Can a ventless gas log set be installed in a masonry fire place that has a metal heatilator with a damper?
I have a fan in the indoor heatilator intake vents to push more heat though the heatilator chambers.
Ventless gas log sets may be installed and safely used in any solid fuel burning fireplace or approved vent free firebox. You should have no trouble installing a ventless set in your appliance. The heatilator fans should have no ill effect on the operation of the log set as long as the circulated air does not enter the combustion chamber of the fireplace.
What is the difference between the 2 remotes you offer for the gas logs?
The standard remotes will offer only on/off or on/off and high low controls, depending on the pilot assembly you are using. The deluxe remotes will add a thermostat that can be programmed to maintain a specific room temperature. This is a handy feature to be used with vent free logs, but will not be as effective with vented logs.
What is your most realistic and best quality vent free gas log set? I need a 36'' set.
All of our log sets made by Peterson are of high quality. The most realistic looking set is very much a personal decision and varies. While some may like the Charred Aged Split, other may like the Valley Oak instead.
