Forget thermostatic
April 21, 2015
I just love these TOTO shower valves. I currently have two, for one shower only (TSTAR), and the TSTDR (model shower/tub). I only need to turn on the volume control and then the water omes out at the right temperature. I do not have to fiddle on the knob just to get the right temprature, thus there is no hot water temp fluctuation. I requested a new cartridge from TOTO, and checked the valves right after the installation, but it was a little inconsistent. The good thing though is that they were very cooperative and sent me the necessary parts for no charge, and since then, they worked great. However because of that, i had to deduct a star.

Clarification on the water flow
January 27, 2015
After doing research, I bought this piece. I have not received it yet but I just want to make a clarification regarding TSTD vs. TSDR. The difference lies in the GPM flow and not what it can delivers. It refers to the GPM flow necessary for the thermostatic functioning to work well. Both of the valves can flow depending on the pressure, restrictions regarding the shower head, etc. It took me a while to understand everything because the websites labelled the unit as 1.75 and 2.5 max flow, but this is not right.
